Tokushima Awaodori Airport – A Gateway to Tokushima

Today, I would like to introduce another side of Tokushima.
Tokushima Awaodori Airport is the main air gateway to Tokushima Prefecture and takes its name from one of Japan’s most famous traditional festivals: Awa Odori.
For visitors arriving from other parts of Japan, the name itself immediately introduces an important part of Tokushima’s identity.

Awa Odori has been celebrated for centuries and is known for its energetic dancing, distinctive music, and the joyful atmosphere that fills the streets of Tokushima every summer.

The airport reflects that local character.
Rather than feeling like a place that could exist anywhere, it carries the name and spirit of the region it serves.
From here, visitors can begin exploring Tokushima’s many different landscapes and traditions.

The historic remains of Tokushima Castle.
The mountains and rivers of Shikoku.

Airports are usually places of departure and arrival.
But they can also be the first introduction to a region.
Tokushima Awaodori Airport does exactly that.

Before visitors even enter the city, they are already being welcomed by one of Tokushima’s most recognizable cultural traditions.
