Made from iron and brass, this decorative piece represents the distinctive architecture of the famous Golden Pavilion in Kyoto, Japan.

The combination of metals, architectural detailing, and traditional Japanese craftsmanship gives the sculpture a distinctive appearance.

Dating from the Showa period, this Japanese-made collectible is suitable for displaying in a study, living room, office, or Japanese-inspired interior.

■ About Kinkakuji – The Golden Pavilion

Kinkakuji, officially known as Rokuonji, is a historic Zen Buddhist temple located in Kyoto, Japan.

The Golden Pavilion was originally developed as a retirement villa for Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the third shogun of the Ashikaga shogunate, in the late 14th century.

After Yoshimitsu‘s death, the estate was converted into a Zen Buddhist temple in accordance with his wishes.

The pavilion is famous for its elegant architecture, golden exterior, and beautiful reflection in the surrounding pond.

The present pavilion was reconstructed in 1955 following a fire in 1950.

Kinkakuji is included among the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.

Its architectural beauty and historical significance have made it an internationally recognized symbol of Japanese cultural heritage.

■ Traditional Japanese Metalwork

Japan has a long tradition of decorative metal casting, including the production of Buddhist objects, architectural ornaments, and sculptures.

Takaoka in Toyama Prefecture is particularly well known for its centuries-old copperware and metal-casting industry.

Traditional Japanese metalwork combines functional craftsmanship with artistic expression, producing decorative objects valued for their intricate forms and enduring aesthetic appeal.

This sculpture reflects the appeal of Japanese architectural miniatures and vintage metal decorative art.
